Accessibility
Last updated 5 August 2026This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. That is a commitment about how it is built, not a badge — the specifics below are things you can check for yourself.
What has been done
- Keyboard. Every control is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, in a logical order. Focus is always visible as a gold outline and is never removed. A skip link is the first focusable element on every page.
- Screen readers. Landmarks, headings and lists are real HTML rather than styled divs. The fight record is a genuine table with a caption and column headers, so it can be navigated by column. Decorative imagery is hidden from the accessibility tree; meaningful imagery has alt text, and the database physically refuses to store an image without it.
- Motion. The site honours
prefers-reduced-motion. With it enabled, scroll reveals, counting statistics, the sponsor marquee and all transitions stop — content appears in place instead. - Contrast. Body text and interface text meet or exceed 4.5:1 against their background. Text placed over photography sits on a scrim calculated to hold that ratio against any frame of the image.
- Zoom. Pinch-zoom is not disabled, and the layout reflows to 400% without horizontal scrolling.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label — never a placeholder standing in for one. Errors are announced, tied to their field and written as plain instructions.
- Modals. The photo lightbox uses a native
<dialog>, so focus is trapped, Escape closes it and focus returns where it came from.
Known limitations
- Embedded YouTube videos use YouTube’s own player, whose captions and controls are outside our control. Captions are enabled on our uploads where the source audio allows.
- Some fight photography is inherently low-contrast — stadium lighting is what it is. Alt text describes what is happening in each frame so the information is not lost.
